VA Long Beach Staff Psychologists are members of interdisciplinary teams that thoroughly assesses the needs of Veterans to plan and provide a therapeutic environment that will assist in rehabilitation of optimal levels of medical and psychological health. These Program areas are Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP), Inpatient Psychology and Home- Based Primary Care Psychology. Incumbents will provide generalist assessment and evidence-based psychotherapy services, target the specific needs of more acute Veterans in the inpatient setting, or focus on cognitive assessment and behavioral interventions aimed at supporting Veterans in remaining in their homes. Psychologist Provide a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including appropriate selection of assessment instruments and methods leading to sound diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Provides services based on the results of psycho-diagnostic assessment such as intervention development and treatment planning. Perform evaluations for Veterans with a variety of psychological disorders including PTSD, substance abuse/dependence, affective disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, and personality disorders. Additionally, the incumbent should possess or be willing to receive training on a variety of evidenced-based treatment (EBTs) relevant to the critical work performed in the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. Overall remains involved in program development, evaluation, research activities and consultation to professional staff within the LBVA HCS community.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am-4:30pm (80-hour biweekly work shifts/ Flexible Agendas)
Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
New grads non-Licensed exceptional stellar personnel are welcomed! May be appointed as a graduate Psychologist for period not to exceed two years.

Appointment Above the Minimum Rate of the grade is authorized based on existing pay, recent salary history, competing job offer, higher or unique qualifications and VA special needs.
