What You Bring/Job Requirements:In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:* Six months previous CNA experience preferred.* Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English* Basic computer skills* Previous customer service experience preferred* High School diploma or GED required within one year of hire* Graduate of a Nursing Assistant Program preferred* State registered CNA license required* BLS from the American Heart Association required* Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training preferred. The General Surgical department at Porter Adventist Hospital is a 30-bed unit caring for pre- and post-op general surgery, transplant, urology, complex abdominal surgery and remote telemetry patients, with some overflow for trauma, orthopedic, spine, and medical/ surgical patients. The General Surgical unit cares for a variety of complex patients, allowing associates to gain a wide knowledge base. The unit mission is to be kind, help others, listen with our hearts and provide an exceptional experience for all who enter our doors. There is excellent teamwork, shared governance, nurse autonomy, self-scheduling, and learning opportunities. The culture is to pull together and support one another.
