VA Northern California Health Care System is looking for a dynamic and committed leader to join our team as the Associate Chief of Staff/Geriatric Extended Care (ACOS/GEC) Service!
VANCHCS is seeking an Associate Chief of Staff for Geriatric and Extended Care (ACOS/GEC) Service to join the Chief of Staff and Executive Leadership team in leading the GEC Services provided to our Veterans and fulfilling the VA Mission.
The GEC Service includes 4 main Sections: 1) a 120-bed Skilled Nursing Facility (VA Community Living Center) that provides shilled care, rehabilitation, and hospice/ palliative in-patient care; 2) Home & Community Based Care (including Home Based Primary Care, Home Care Coordination, Contract Nursing Homes, Home Health Aide, Adult Day Health Care, Medical Foster Home and Respite); 3) Palliative Care and Hospice, as well as 4) Geriatrics and Dementia Clinics. The ACOS, GEC Service position will provide clinical, academic, and administrative oversight to all Programs under GEC Service. The position is based at the VA Martinez, CA campus, with GEC Services provided throughout Northern California Health Care System, with the main campus being located at Sacramento, CA.
The ACOS/GEC will be expected to provide leadership and direction for the GEC service line including providers, clinical leaders, administrative managers, and other supporting staff. The ACOS/GEC is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, managing, and refining a comprehensive patient management, clinical support, and administrative program which provides services through a heavily interdisciplinary program. The ACOS/GEC is responsible for the improved coordination of services, improved customer service, and to provide management oversight in program development and prioritization of projects and alignment of resources.
The ACOS/GEC Service oversees all GEC operations at VANCHCS sites; Sacramento (Mather and McClellan), Martinez, Redding, Chico, Yuba City, Mare Island, Fairfield, Yreka, and future sites in Stockton, Sonora, and Modesto.
The ACOS, GEC Service reports directly to the Chief of Staff, and will work closely and effectively with the Deputy ACOS/GEC, and with GEC clinical leadership and collaborate with other clinical and administrative leadership to accomplish the goals and mission set forth from Executive Leadership.
The ACOS/GEC is expected to manage personal clinic time allocation negotiated with the Chief of Staff.
The ACOS/GEC also works closely with Quality Management and is expected to support and be actively involved in systems redesign initiatives, to meet or exceed Joint Commission and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities standards, and to actively work on the establishment on policies and procedures.

Salary: $265,000-$280,340
Work Schedule: 8am to 430pm, Monday-Friday/40-hour work week; on-call coverage after hours, weekends and on holidays via tele-health only

Candidates must: 1) be a US citizen or PRA (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with [38 U.S.C. § 7407(a)]; 2) possess a current, full, unrestricted medical license in any state, 3) board certified in Family or Internal Medicine and Geriatric or Palliative Medicine, and 4) and confirm vaccination for seasonal influenza and Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), which are both requirements for all Health Care Personnel (HCP) employed by Department of Veterans Affairs. Preferred experience: Five to ten years VA experience, board certified Family or Internal Medicine and Geriatric or Palliative Medicine.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
