Certified Clinical Laboratory Technician Position Overview
Under supervision, the Certified Clinical Laboratory Technician performs clinical analyses for routine, special, and automated tests. Priority is given to STAT testing and to tests that require immediate processing. Our laboratory and microbiology services departments at United Health Services Wilson Medical Center operate at a high volume and offer the most testing options among all of our laboratories. The lab serves both inpatient and outpatient needs.
Obtain laboratory specimens, (blood, urine, and other body fluids) directly from patients as trained and obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease as outlined by procedure and as assigned
Recognize abnormal results and take proper action (alert/critical values)
Observe reactions and make qualitative or quantitative analyses and post results as appropriate
Perform related computer functions such as entry, verification, retrieval of results, and special workload recording
Perform and document quality control and preventive maintenance on designated laboratory equipment
Participate in quality improvement efforts and assignments

Associate’s degree or higher for Certified Clinical Laboratory Technician or a related title from a program registered by the NYS department of licensure or a program determined to be the substantial equivalent of a registered program (refer to the NYS Office of the Professions for academic requirements for licensure)
New York State Certified Clinical Laboratory Technician license or eligibility
Preferred: One year of experience working in a clinical laboratory and/or certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification
