Surgical Technologist/OR Tech - $15,000 Sign-On Bonus
United Health Services in Upstate New York is hiring full-time Surgical Technologists (OR Techs) to join our Operating Room teams at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, New York and Binghamton General Hospital in Binghamton, New York. Our hospitals, one of which is a Level II Trauma Center, are known for orthopedic, cardiac, and neurologic surgeries, among other types of procedures.

Surgical Technologist Position Overview
Under general direction, the Surgical Technologist assist surgical teams in the operating room. You will works to ensure rooms are well-prepared and sterile and that surgery logistics run smoothly. The successful candidate will work closely with surgeons, RNs, anesthesiologists, and other staff members as you help prepare medication, assist in retracting tissues from the patient, pass surgical tools, and prepare rooms for cases.
Job Responsibilities
- Follow Infection Control policies and procedures and demonstrate expertise in surgical scrub technique
- Assist surgeons when needed by gowning, gloving, draping, and passing instruments and other items during procedures, anticipating the surgeon’s need for instruments, sutures, and equipment
- Maintain an organized operative field at all times by keeping instruments clean and in their proper place and keeping an accurate sponge, tape, needle, dissector, and instrument count
- Prepare for cases by assembling supplies and equipment in accordance with operating standards and identify conflicts or problems
- Provide a sage surgical environment for the patient and display knowledge of potential hazards (equipment, chemical, or gasses) within the Operating Room
- Expedite the effective and efficient turnover of the OR between cases

Position Requirements
- Completion of a nationally accredited (CAAHEP or ABHES) Surgical Technology program (certificate or degree) and a Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technology credentialing organization; or
- Completion of a surgical technology training program for the United States Armed Forces or Public Health Commissioned Corps; or
- Experience as a Surgical Technologist in a healthcare facility for at least one cumulative year between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2014
- CPR certification within three months of hire
- Preferred: Previous Operating Room or Surgical Technology experience
