The position described is that of a Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department Care (RN) Service Line. The RN must possess a broad-based clinical knowledge to effectively implement health promotion, prevention, management of acute and chronic illness at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. Critical Care and Emergency Room Documents assessment and interventions by policy and practice standards (Essentris, CPRS) Conducts bedside, patient centered rounds utilizing SBAR tool and all transition of care Activate Emergency Response, Code Stroke and Code per policy/guidelines. Remain with patient at all times during emergency to support patient and provide relevant information to response personnel. Demonstrates proficiency in tele ICU patient care system Manages patients requiring hemodynamic monitoring. Manages patients with ventriculostomy. Manages patients on ventilator. Manages patient with acute ischemic stroke. Manages patient with pacemaker. Manages patient with central venous access. Manages patient in cardiac arrest Manages patient with moderate sedation Mentors and precepts new staff and students. ABGs and Venous access Manages patient with Impella and Intraaortic balloon pump Manages patient with external pacing wires. Manages patient with tracheotomy (capped or uncapped); and patients requiring airway management. Manages post-operative cases needing intensive nursing care Performs 12 lead EKG by policy/guidelines. Responds and provides leadership during Medical Code and Rapid responses Utilize the Emergency Severity Index to triage patients and determine urgent, emergent and non- emergent cases. Application of 5-level triage system to prioritize care Crisis intervention for unique population Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm Telework: Not Available.
