The Nursing Assistant function as a member of the nursing care team and assist licensed nursing staff in the care of patients/residents receiving preventive, acute, sub-acute chronic, maintenance, and hospice care. Assists the RN or provider in addressing resident's need for treatments, accurately administering prescribed treatments according to established policies/procedures and appropriately records administration and resident's response to medications/treatments received. Contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the resident's plan of care/treatment plan. Reports and documents changes in resident's conditions according to accepted Medical Center Policy. Maintains the appropriate skills for the care of the adult and geriatric population/resident. Initiates corrective action for patient's/resident's needs, requests, complaints, progress, and/or problems. Recognizes and responds to appropriate emergency measures, e.g. performs CPR, and assists in managing aggressive behavior, follows fire/disaster procedures. Administers care according to established procedures and all Medical Center Policies. Communicates effectively with patients/residents, their families and other health professionals. Maintains professional relationships with residents and colleagues. Demonstrates flexibility with assignment and schedules.
