Perform a variety of professional duties involved in developing anddelivering occupational health nursing services for cl ient companies ofthe Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine OccupationalHealth Service; assist in planning, implementing and evalua ting healthmaintenance and health education programs; contribute to the design ofhealth controls and surveillance relative to toxic or hazardous conditions in the work environment.
As sist in planning, developing, implementing, managing and evaluatingoccup ational health and health promotions programs for client companiesin coo peration with the company andthe DukeUniversity OccupationalHealth Ser vice; assist in developing objectives for occupational healthservices th rough a collaborative role with company corporate philosophyand the Duke Occupational Health Service medical consultant.Provide on-site emergenc y care to employees within the guidelines ofwritten medical orders at cl ient companies; mange chronic health care ofemployees within the guideli nes of written medical orders, providingmedications, health assessment, and referral.Develop and/or maintain and audit employee health records t o ensurecontinuity of care, employee confidentiality and feedback to man agement,in compliance with government regulation, company policy and app licableCodes of Ethnics.Perform worksite walk-through assessments to det ermine employee workprocesses and potential sources of illness and injur y;useepidemiological methods to define and monitor the health andsafet yneeds of company employees; contribute to the design of health controls and surveillance of actual and potential toxic or hazardous conditionsin the work environment.Assist in evaluating the occupational health and s afety programs ofclient companies and recommend changes in policies, pro cedures, orprograms; assist in evaluating cost-effectiveness of Occupati onal HealthService for client companies.Provide individual counseling se ssions to employees on healthmaintenance, results of health screenings a nd health promotionactivities; provide pre-employment and random drug an d alcohol screeningof employees as requested by client companies; recomm end, purchase, andmaintain medical supplies and equipment necessary for the optimalfunctioning of the occupational health service of client comp anies.Collaborate with other on-site members of the occupational health teamsuch as occupational medicine physician, industrial hygienist, safet yengineers, management and union representatives, etc.; participate inco ntinuing education to update knowledge of occupational health andsafety including legal regulations applicable to occupational health andsafety. Work requires completion of an accredited Bachelor's of Science in Nursing, Associates degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program with coursework in occupational and/or environmental safety. State of North Carolina licensure is also required.
